Are you ready for a few more months of cold weather? I know I am, and I have some great ideas on how to keep you looking fresh, warm, trendy, and even slim through the winter and beyond.
For you sporty ski bunnies out there, I’m sure one of the first things you think about when the snow begins to fall is hitting the slopes. Whether you are a seasoned skier or it’s your first time on the slopes, it’s going to be cold, and you have to be prepared – but don’t let the frigid mountain air scare the fashion out of you — there are ways to look cute, while staying warm! Ski and snowboard fashion used to be boring, and in many cases, just not flattering. Colorful, fitted synthetic ski suits made with plastic fabrics are a great option because they don’t add extra volume to your frame and they help to insulate your entire body. Also, remember that layering is key to keeping warm, so adding an under layer of tight, sweat-wicking fabric gives you an extra layer of warmth so you can stay outside longer.
With all the talk of tight mini-dresses this season, I thought I’d let you in on one of Hollywood’s secrets: shapewear! Under those glamorous couture gowns you see on the red carpet, Hollywood’s A-listers are sporting all kinds of shapewear from tummy tuckers and smoothers to pantyhose. Most shapewear is made of an ultra-stretchy plastic fabric called spandex. Spandex tucks and flattens some of your most self-conscious areas into a smooth slim look. Pantyhose and tights have been around for decades, and girls everywhere know how it smooths out imperfections and gives legs a flawless appearance up close and from a distance. If you’re looking for something both modern and festive to go with that subdued mini skirt or dress, add pantyhose or tights in a seasonal print—like snowflakes—or a warm winter color like a deep burgundy—and you get all the benefits of smooth, flawless legs, and some flair and color!
Here’s to a happy, healthy, safe, and of course fashionable 2012!
